Roots reach out
Like fingers opening, spreading,
Into the soil.
In unfriendly desert
The thin trunk keeps growing;
Branches reach out.
Green bark and
Purple flowers on thin arms,
Desert spring beauty:
You are my
Sapling poem; my reminder of
So much progress.
